- Rehabilitation Council of India (R.C.I) is constituted by virtue of the R.C.I. Act, 1992 passed by the Parliament, which is effective from July, 1993. The main motto of the creation of RCI is to standardization of the training exercise imparted to several rehabilitation agencies. RCI is also entrusted with the work of Registration of the agencies. Therefore, only the eligible and registered agencies can impart the services to the handicapped persons.
- To make the handicapped persons strong and to make them realize about their rights to live independently and completely in the community which is very nearer to his/her own community.
- To make the facilities competent to support the handicapped persons to live with his own family.
- To enhance the support upto the registered Organizations to impart the necessary services during the time of severe difficulties to the handicapped persons at home.
- To minimize the problems of handicapped persons who are not supportive to the family.
- To instigate to take steps to the care and protection to the handicapped persons when their parents/guardian die.
- To develop the procedure to appoint guardians and trustees for the protection of such needy handicapped persons.
- To provide the facilities for ensuring equal opportunities, protection of rights and complete participation of the handicapped persons. To do whatever the subsequent requirements to fulfill the above goal.
