At present, the District Social Security Officers are performing the duties as Child Marriage Prohibition Officers in the State. |
- In Gujarat State, the Child Marriage Prevention Act has been implemented from 1964.
- As per the Child Marriage Prevention Act, the marriage of a girl below the age of 18 years and a boy below the age of 21 years is considered as child marriage and liable for offense.

Who are liable for punishment/penalty under this Act ?:- |
- The guardian/parents of the girl,
- The guardian/parents of the boy,
- The person assisting the planning of marriage ceremony (the Brahman who performs marriage rituals),
- The mother (woman) of the girl or boy is exempted from the punishment; but is liable for penalty.
- The above persons who are involved in the solemnization of marriage are liable for maximum 2 year’s punishment and penalty of upto Rs. 1,00,000/-.

To whom the application to be submitted? :- |
- Child Marriage Prevention Officer-cum-District Social Security Officer.
- Nearest Police Station, Social Organizations, Social Workers etc.
- The girls/boys who are subjected to child marriage can be prosecuted within 2 years of attaining their adulthood.
- If the child marriage is brought to the notice of the Child Marriage Prevention Officer and the Police Officer, necessary action will be taken by them.
- The application of the applicant is kept confidential.
