- When the offence is proved under the Penal Code of India, young offenders are sent to the jail. To give a chance to these offenders to reform by remaining with the family in the society and with a view to restrain them from becoming more offensive
- Chief Probation Officer and Probation Officers are appointed in the Office of District Social Security Officer to work under this Act.
- An indepth psychological report regarding the circumstances which led to the offense by the offenders, his family background, social and economic condition, the opinion of neighbours and the nearest relatives of the offender is called for from the Probation Officer before the final judgement of the Court.
- After inquiry, an indepth report is given to the Hon’ble Court by the Probation Officer.
- Recommendation to the Court to free the offender on bail, free by reprimanding or to keep under the care of the Probation Officer for not more than 3 years alongwith bail is done if the Probation Officer feels fit to do so.
- Every month, the Probation Officer tries to persuade the young offender to live with respect in the society by making personal visit.
