Gujarat Scheduled Castes Development corporation was established with effect
from 05-05-1975 under the Societies Registration Act, 1960. The Original object
of the setting up of this Corporation was to achieve overall development of the
Scheduled Caste and to provide such facilities so as to enable them to live
respectable life. But after the setting up of this corporation it was found from
the experience that the set up of this Corporation was not in consonance with
the policy of the Central Government and the State government, and therefore set
up of this Corporation was converted into a venture of the State Government in
1979 under the Indian Companies Act, 1956, and by that way it came into
existence as the Gujarat scheduled Castes Economic Development Corporation
Limited, Gandhinagar with share capital of Rs. 15.00 Crores. As has been
declared under government Notification social Welfare Department, Sachivalaya
Gandhinagar dated 6-7-1996 and as per the Gujarat Bill No.6, this corporation is
renamed as GUJARAT SCHEDULED CASTES DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION (GSCDC) GANDHINAGAR
as a statutory Corporation with effect from 15-8-1996. The authorized share
capital of this Corporation is Rs. 50.00 crores, against which the present paid
up capital of this Corporation is Rs. 9,48,79,000/-.
