The Social Justice and Empowerment Department, Government of Gujarat, primarily
focuses on socio economic welfare measure for empowerment of backward section of
society. The department implements several developmental and welfare schemes for
the following categories of the people in the state:
- Scheduled Castes [S.C.]
- Nomadic Tribes [N.T.]
- Denotified Tribes [D.N.T.]
- Socially and Educationally Backward Classes [S.E.B.C.]
- Economically Backward Classes [E.B.C.]
- Minorities.
The department also takes several welfare measures for orphans, destitute,
prostitutes, widows, beggars and old persons.

- Other Schemes
