Social Defence
Department mainly catess to the needs of socially disadvantaged and weaker
sections such as orphan, destitute or juveniles, works offenders, oppressed
women and girls who have been victims of circumstances, mentally and physically
handicapped children or adults, aged and infirm, destitute widows, beggars etc.,
works for their ultimate rehabilitation and help them to achieve social
empowerment.
People are provided shelter in either Government or Non-Government institutions;
where in all services such as food, clothing, medical treatment, education and
vocational training and rehabilitation services are provided free of cost. In
order to fulfil the above objections of social defence, the State Government
implements various following legislations through the Directorate of Social
Defence.
