In the Directive
Principle of the state policy and the
provisions enshrined in the constitution of
India aiming at the welfare of the people,
it has been provided to give equal
opportunity without any discrimination
whatsoever and to take special care for
development of weaker sections of the
nation. As has been embodied in article 36
of the constitution, the state shall take
special care for furtherance of educational
purpose of the weaker sections of the
society particularly of the scheduled castes
and the scheduled Tribes. Accordingly after
the state of Gujarat came in to existence,
multifarious schemes of overall development
of the scheduled castes in the state of
Gujarat are being implemented by the
Director of Social Welfare.
The schemes
for the schedule caste falls under following groups:
